Jan Faidley Saxophone Instructor,

Education - Doctoral Course work and a Master of Music in Saxophone from Indiana School of Music, Additional studies at the Conservatoire National de Region, Bordeaux, France; Bachelor of Music Education from Southwestern College in Winfield, Kansas.   
Teaching Experience - Adjunct Professor of Saxophone, MidAmerica Nazarene University (1998 - present).  Nearly 20 years of private saxophone teaching experience in Johnson County. Previous experience includes Adjunct Professor of Saxophone and Saxophone Ensemble, Emporia State University (2000-01),  Professor of Saxophone at various conservatories in France including Ecole de Musique, Societe St. Martin (Espace Musical), Pessac, France (1983-89)

Performing Experience - Extensive performing experience in USA and France including founding member/saxophonist of New Ear, Contemporary Music Ensemble, and Saxophonist with the Kansas City Symphony (1997-2002).

Emily Smith, Flute & Piccolo Instructor

Education – Master of Music Education from The University of Kansas; Bachelor of Music Education from Kansas State University.

Teaching Experience – 25+ years experience teaching private flute and piccolo lessons in the
Kansas City area; 20 years experience as a clinician in Olathe, Blue Valley, Spring Hill, andShawnee Mission school districts; adjudicator for district/state band auditions, Sousa Honor Band auditions, and solo/ensemble festivals in Kansas and Missouri; master class clinician/guest artist at the University of Central Missouri, Emporia State University, and Kansas State University; teaching artist/fife player with Kansas City Young Audiences (2009 recipient of the Lighton Prize for Teaching Artist Excellence); presenter for a pedagogy workshop at the 2003 National Flute Association Convention. 

Performing Experience -- Principal flute with the Olathe Community Orchestra (1985-present); founding member/bass and alto flutist with professional flute quartet, Collage; the Silverwood ensembles; the Sunflower Ragtime Orchestra; cofounder and conductor of the Kansas City Flute Choir (2005-2015). Recital performances include: Ruel Joyce Recital Series, Westport ArtsCenter Recital Series, Californos Westport, and the Music in the Garden series at the Overland Park Arboretum; has performed with several metro area community orchestras as well as pit orchestras for The Theatre in the Park, The White Theatre at JCC, and Gardner Community Theatre.
